About Josephine

Josephine was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and is the second oldest of six kids (two sisters and three brothers). Josephine’s dad continues to work in tech and her mom used to work as an artist in advertising before she decided to become a full-time stay at home mom to care for Josephine and her siblings. Josephine went to a small Christian school and was later homeschooled when she was a teenager. During her time of schooling she enjoyed choir, drama, and art. She began fostering her love for drawing at a young age and that continued all the way through college. She was also involved in a youth group at her church, where she came to know about her faith and love for Christ.

Josephine grew up in a large household, with a big family there was never a dull moment. Her older sister, Malia grew up loving to dance and was part of a dance team. Malia is currently a stay at home mom, raising her four children (soon to be five in May 2025!) with her husband, Cole. Josephine’s younger sister, Leilani, currently works as a youth minister at the same church that Josephine and Brian volunteer at and she is soon to be married to her fiance, Sean. Josephine’s younger brother, Hartwell lives with his wife Olivia and their sweet baby boy. The second youngest boy, Brooks, is currently in college studying and working as a golf instructor. Finally, Josephine’s youngest sibling, Yarnell, is a teenager who loves playing guitar, basketball, and singing and will be finishing up his freshman year of high school.

When Josephine was 14 years old, she experienced her first seizure and then one more the next year. This came as a surprise to her and her parents and would be the start of a long journey of chronic illness for her. School became very difficult to manage, especially with the side effects from her medications along with recovering from multiple seizures a day. In 2015, Josephine’s parents made the decision to take her to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to see if they could help improve her condition. It was there that she was able to receive a neurological procedure to implant a deep brain stimulator in 2016, which has helped her tremendously these past 9 years. Though seizures are still a part of Josephine’s life, they are very much controlled.

Josephine attended Dallas College and it was there she was able to hone in on her skills of drawing and painting. Her love for art, specifically drawing grew even more. She learned so much from her professors and decided to pursue her art full time. Josephine was able to turn this passion and love for art and combine it with her faith to start her own small business where she sells her original artwork of Jesus, Mary, and the saints. She also works by commission and her art has been placed in many of her friends and families homes.  Her passion is creating art, it is her hope that it draws people closer to Christ. In her free time, Josephine enjoys gardening and caring for house plants. She enjoys baking and cooking, reading, playing tennis, volunteering for her church, trying new coffee shops, spending time with her friends and family, and creating a home that is peaceful and a safe haven for her and Brian.
